Things to Remember on Memorial Day

It is the VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN,
not the politician,
who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag,

It is the VETERAN,
who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,
AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

We can be very proud of our young men and women in the military service no matter where they serve.

Father God let us always remember these young men and women who serve our county so that we can be FREE. Heavenly Father, be with those families this Memorial Day weekend who's loved ones gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Lord, it is my prayer that You give all of these folks the peace and comfort that only You can bring. I pray this all in Jesus' name. Amen

I come from a family line of men who were veterans. My husband is a veteran. We sometimes forget what they have done for us. Thank you for reminding us.

Thank you brother, sometimes I forget just how much they gave and how much I owe. The price they paid is way too much for us to take it all for granted.

Love this - my dad was retired Air Force and I always felt like people never really got what he did for our country.

Thanks for remembering them this way!

Thank you -- from a vet and on behalf of people I served with who went places I did not have to go and did not make it back.

Greater love has no man, than that he would lay down his life for his friends. I am humbled by the valour and courage of these men and women who risked it all so that I could live free. Great post.

Having served in the USMC in the Viet Nam era, I can say that it was our sovereign God who gave us this freedom in this country by means of his various instruments, including the armerd forces.

I am a proud vet fully cognizant of the undeserved grace of our sovereign God whom we so callously reject.

What a great post!
Our Veterans truly deserve to be treated like the Heroes that they are. The picture of the man in the wheelchair standing always tugs at my heart. The sheer fact that he is the only one standing out of respect is very touching and makes a statement without words.
Have a Blessed Holiday My Friend.
God Bless,
Niecy.

I know little about the USA and even less about its army and veterans. I do have a concern for the psychological survival of all who serve in stressful situations.
Although little is spoken of it, it seems that many veterans end up with broken marriages, prison or even suicide. They need our prayers AND our concern. These men don't just go off the rails. They must have already been wobbling but with no visible signs of the inner turmoil. Servicemen are expected to be tough in all matters! But, as God knows, they are only human.
