The Oracles of God

“If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:11)

While setting here meditating on the Word of God this morning, I began to think of the awesome responsibility that we, as Christian bloggers, have when we witness to the world about our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that if we speak, let us speak as the oracles of God. What is the meaning to the “oracles of God”? Well, I did a little research into the meaning on how Peter was using the word “oracles of God”. Those who teach God’s truth to others should teach it in a reverent manner so that their hearers will respect the Word of God.

Those who teach God’s truth to others must use the ability which God supplies them: Not relying on their own strength, Christians should use the power God gives them to do His will on earth. How is God praised when we use our abilities? When we use them as He directs, to help others, they will see Jesus in us and praise Him for the help they have received.

Peter may have been thinking of Jesus’ words in the following scriptures when he was writing verse 11:

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. (Matthew 5:13)

Father, it is my prayer that I will always seek your wisdom when I witness to the lost world about your Son and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that I will always be the light that shines and the salt of the earth when I witness to others about the Gospel. I pray this all in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Another dilemma is whether we class ourselves as "Christian bloggers" or "bloggers who are Christian." If our main goal of blogging had a secular purpose, where do we draw the line between what is the right amount of Christian content and what is so much that it ceases to fulfill its original purpose? Some deal with this by having two separate blogs. I chose not to do that (yet).

I want to personally thank each of you for visiting and commenting on this post.

Even though Gorges I understand where you are coming from, I believe that as a "Christian" the term "Christian Blogger" is synonyms with being a Christian that likes to "Blog". The reason I say this is because the world looks at the way we live our lives, how we react to diversity, just waiting to condemn us because we fail to live up to the "high standards" that they perceive
Christian should be living.

My intentions for my blog were to reflect the love I have for my Lord and Savior and to share that love with whoever wants to read my posts. However, I also felt the desire to have a blog where I could reflect on anything that happens to me while living in this world.

So whether we are blogging about our family, friends, or witnessing for our Lord Jesus, we need always be on guard that we do everything for the glory of God. This is why, like you, I will probably just post my thoughts on just this one blog. This is just my 2-cents worth. God's blessings, Lloyd

We never know who is watching or listening so we should be committed to keep our path illuminated by His Light.

Thanks for dropping by my blog and following it. I try to follow C.S. Lewis's example and write with Christian themes and undertones that will fly under the radar of the secular agents and publishers.

I need your prayers that I will find an agent and publisher who will publish my series on a man who fears he has lost his faith but continues to live it, Roland
