INDIANAPOLIS, May 10, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Indiana has become the first state to cut off Planned Parenthood from taxpayer assistance because of its role in the abortion business.

Governor Mitch Daniels, a potential contender for the 2012 GOP presidential ticket, signed on Tuesday a measure to block public funds from going to organizations that perform abortions, depriving Planned Parenthood of an estimated $3 million in both state and federal funds.

According to the Associated Press, Planned Parenthood of Indiana has promised to take to federal court to seek a temporary restraining order and injunction Tuesday against the new law.

Let us see if the governors of the other states will have the courage and wisdom to stand up against abortion like Governor Mitch Daniels. There is no legitimate excuse to use tax payer's money to fund abortion clinics.

I think this may be one of the platforms that politician's will use this coming presidential election. What are your thoughts?

As an Indiana resident who voted for him for governor and maybe the opportunity to vote for him for president, I admire the move. Wonder if it is more fiscally motivated because he wants to call a truce on social issues.

Opponents will say that low income, low risk women will not have access to non abortion services. However, I believe that culture's pro abortion world view has created an impoverished class that needs P P's services. And the downward spiral goes.

I have no doubt that it will be used as a platform, but the sincerity of the issue will be revealed when the dust is settled and a new president is in office. I would love for a future president to be genuinely concerned with the morality of murdering the unborn; but I don't want anyone to use the issue to push emotional buttons, only to forget their promises their first year in office. Seeing as how the unborn apparently have no rights to live, someone has to fight on their behalf. I just hope its sincere...

While I am glad for a positive move for morality, like Ian, I fear that many times political expediency, rather than real conviction, is the cause of many such moves. I hope this isn't just another one.

I love it. I hope that other states follow suit, and quickly. I'm amazed at how readily most Americans will condone murder by their inaction.

Praise God! I hope they do this were I live and give more funding to organizations that help teach young women about there other options. Abortion is murder!

Glad to see it. I wish all Governors would do this, but unfortunately it won't happen in my liberal state.

Just when I feel society can't sink any lower, there comes a glimmer of hope. Hit them where it hurts....in the pocket book.

Good move on the govenor's part but the fed courts will legislate again from the bench and uphold abortion as usual. 'Tis a pity.

May I suggest adoption?

Erlon – It is true that politics is a game of interest. That is why it is so important for us believers to get out and vote our “values”.

Man vs. Suburbs Guy – I tend to agree with Ian and dfish… I want to see if all of these promises are carried out when the politician gets into office or was it just a charade just to get them into office? As far as Planed Parenthood groups… they just need folks with Christian values to organize and operate them. If this were the case, there would be no abortion clinics, just more adoption agencies.

Ian and dfish - I’m with both of you. Unfortunately most politician’s will “promise the moon” just to get into office. It is my prayer that this Indiana governor is for real and that his Christian moral and ethical beliefs will spread around this nation. We need to put an end to this genocide of our unborn children.

Apathyisafad – Would it be a blessing if all states follow suit? You are right… when we do nothing to stop abortions in this world, we are actually condoning it. We, as Christians must let our voices be heard loud and clear. STOP THE MURDERING OF OUR UNBORN CHILDREN!

C.R. – I really believe that Planed Parenthood could be turned around in a positive way if they would just start promoting “life” instead of “death” when it comes to the unborn. There are so many options out there that these young women have instead of killing their unborn child.

Gerry - Unfortunately you are right. Where I live in Oregon, the new governor and the rest of the law makers are so liberal that it is sometimes scary just knowing that they are the one’s that write the laws that we live by. May God have mercy on those liberal states that Condon abortions and homosexuality?

ShellyLPM – Thanks for dropping by… I’ll be coming over to your blog and checking it out.

IanH - You are right…sometimes it hurts more when you take money away from a group that has outlived its purpose and refuses to cherish life instead of ending it. There is always HOPE when we rely on our Lord and Savior to make things right.

Gromie - You’re right. But like I have mention many times before. If the Christian community would only get out and vote their values when the elections come up, we could get people in control that can place Christian judges in the local, state and federal courts. Wouldn’t it be a blessing to see a judge that would take a stand on abortion and call it what it really is…Murder?

Clint - I really don’t think it is to far fetch to believe that the Planed Parenthood organizations could stop advocating abortions and promoting “life” through adoptions. What a great idea. I am sure it has been brought up before but rejected. It is so much easier to abort then to adopt.

Did you know that the Girl Scouts fund Planned Parenthood? They have special confrences and everything and it's absoulutely disgusting. I was taken out of Girl Scouts two years ago because my mother didn't want me paying dues to abortion agencies.
