DUBLIN, April 12, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a powerful op-ed in today’s Irish Times, an Irish man with degenerative motor neurone disease (MND) has revealed how he was heavily pressured by the medical community to refuse the ventilator that is keeping him alive.

After having been admitted to intensive care for pneumonia, a common complication for paralyzed patients, Simon Fitzmaurice began receiving assisted breathing and a feeding tube. Shortly after being admitted, Fitzmaurice said, a doctor came in and told him it was rare and expensive for patients to have a ventilator at home.

The doctor told him, with his wife and mother present, “That it is time for me to make the hard choice. He tells me that there have only been two cases of invasive home ventilation, but in both cases the people were extremely wealthy.”

This is another heartfelt and touching example of the value of life in today's society. Simon Fitzmaurice has been pressured by the medical profession to remove his ventilator and just die. However, Simon is not ready to give up the battle because of his loving family and friends.

This is another example of where "Money" talks....if you are wealthy you can prolong your life, but if you are not-- it's time to pull the plug! What is the value of a human life today? Euthanasia and assisted suicide are becoming a norm in this world we live in.

Let us pray for those who are not healthy and those who are disabled because they are all vulnerable to those who have control over life and death. Those who believe that humane life is no longer sacred and that when a person has no "value" to society and becomes a "burden" then it's time to put them to sleep like a "family pet". I want to tell you my friends...THIS IS NOT GOD'S WILL! God's Judgement will prevail.

The Unconquerable Love of Jesus

Today would have been my son Jim’s 35th birthday. My wife and I plan on going out to the cemetery to put a few fresh flowers on his grave and then spending the rest of the day hanging out together giving comfort and love to each other. Even though it has been seven years since Jim went home to be with our Lord and Savior, it sometimes feels just like yesterday when my wife and I received that devastating news of his suicide. Sometimes the hardest emotion to overcome is the guilt that comes from not being there when your child needs you the most.

God has been so good to us over the years and has given us so many blessings. I want to personally let all of you mom and dads out there know that if you have ever had a child die, for any reason, my sincere condolence and prayers go out to you. I can tell you personally that even though the grief and pain returns every now and then, I can testify to you this day that you can still have the peace, joy and happiness if you have Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

April 4, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Canadian Paediatric Society - bioethics committee, released a statement on April 1 concerning the withholding and withdrawing of artificial nutrition and hydration.

The statement is similar to the statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Both statements approve the withholding or withdrawing of nutrition and hydration (fluids and food) from infants who may not be dying.

The Canadian statement allows euthanasia by dehydration (slow euthanasia) of infants with cognitive or other disabilities based on a “quality of life” assessment and with consent.

I refer to this as euthanasia by dehydration because there is a clear difference between withholding or withdrawing fluids and food from a person who is actually dying and nearing death and a person who is not otherwise dying. Click "Here" for the complete story.

We really need to get down on our knees and humble ourselves before the Lord. God have mercy on these doctors and any other person who would agree with such a barbaric attitude towards human life. This sounds like eugenics to me. Let us allow the "fit" and "normal" to live, but not those who have disabilities. God loves all His little children.

Should Women Preach and Teach?

And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. (1 Timothy 2:12-14)

To understand these verses, we must understand the situation in which Paul and Timothy worked. In first-century Jewish culture, women were not allowed to study. When Paul said that women should learn in quietness and full submission, he was offering them an amazing new opportunity. Paul did not want the Ephesian women to teach because they didn't yet have enough knowledge or experience. The Ephesian church had a particular problem with false teachers. Evidently the women were especially susceptible to the false teachings (2 Timothy 3:1-9), because they did not yet have enough Biblical knowledge to discern the truth. In addition, some of the women were apparently flaunting their new-found Christian freedom by wearing inappropriate clothing (1 Timothy 2:9). Paul was telling Timothy not to put anyone (in this case, women) into a position of leadership who was not yet mature in the faith (1 Timothy 5:22). The same principle applies to churches today.

Humble Yourself in Prayer

Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:12-14)

It had been months, maybe years, that had passed since Solomon's prayer of dedication for the temple (2 Chronicles 6). Several other building projects had been completed after the temple (2 Chronicles 7:11; 8:1). Then after all this time, God told Solomon that He had heard his prayer. In the next several verses (2 Chronicles 7: 13–15), the Lord reviews and answers the petitions of Solomon (2 Chronicles 6:14–42). Solomon’s prayers had been heard and would be answered, but there were conditions (2 Chronicles 7:14).

March 25, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Top ‘gay-rights’ groups claiming to represent Christians and Catholics, and at least one Jesuit-run college, are being funded by a major homosexualist business magnate with the aim of stirring up dissent within the ranks of the church.

In a recent article Thomas Peters, Cultural Director for the National Organization for Marriage and founder of the American Papist blog, revealed the funding sources of various groups that promote acceptance of homosexuality under the guise of representing concerned members of the Judaeo-Christian community.

I found this to be a very interesting article that made me think of how the "love of money" can corrupt a Christian church. It so happens that gay activist billionaire Jon Stryker, who is the founder of the Arcus Foundation, is slipping his worldly lifestyle and ideas into several "Catholic" projects under the heading of "Religion and Values." The listings specifically describe plans to undermine Catholic Church teaching on sexuality from the inside.

This is a MUST READ for all "Believer's in Christ" because Satan is truly roaming around like a roaring lion in an attempt to devour his enemies.

EVERETT, Washington, March 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Only days after reports emerged of a firebomb attack on an elderly participant in a 40 Days for Life vigil in Kalispell, Montana, 40 Days for Life campaigners in Everett, Washington are also reporting harassment that has taken place during the current spring campaign.

On the 40 Days for Life Everett blog, local leader Michelle McIntyre wrote that on March 21, “a man appeared at our vigil site with his face covered by a handkerchief or some type of mask and displayed pornographic pictures, flat on the sidewalk just before a family of prayer volunteers arrived with their children.” The display deterred the family from bringing the children on site, she said. It seems that the pro-abortion folks can not express themselves now without becoming violent. Please keep the 40 Days of Life Participants in your prayers. Not only are the pro-life participants becoming targets of harassment and assaults...the local police seem to be neglecting their job by not enforcing the laws.

Are You a Doubting Thomas?

Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” (John20: 24-25)

We often remember Thomas as “the doubter,” because he doubted Jesus’ resurrection. Shortly after Jesus' resurrection He appeared before His disciples in a closed room, however, Thomas was not present (John 20:19–23). When Jesus appeared to the other disciples, He showed them His hands and His side (John 20:20). No doubt they told Thomas about seeing the Lord's pierced hands and side because Thomas said that he would not "believe" unless he could touch Jesus' wounds (John 20:25).

God’s Sovereignty

Have you ever questioned God’s sovereignty? With all the tragedies happening in the world today some folks may question whether God is truly in control. Every time we turn on the television, radio or read the newspaper we are subjected to all of the violence and assaults on humanity. Our churches are beginning to water down the FAITH and manipulate God’s Word by interpreting Holy Scripture to fit man made doctrines and traditions.

Non-believers and believers alike are becoming confused when they hear the Gospel because of all the fighting and bickering regarding the interpretation of God’s Word. Is it any wonder that there are so many people in this world that turn to false religions and cults instead of turning their life over to Jesus Christ.

The Prayer of Faith

And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:15-16)

People in the church are not alone. Members of Christ's body should be able to count on others for support and prayer, especially when they are sick or suffering. The elders should be on call to respond to the illness of any member (James 5:14), and the church should stay alert to pray for the needs of all its members.
