Canadian Paediatric Approves Infant Death by Dehydration!

Canadian Paediatric approves the dehydration of infants who may not be otherwise dying

April 4, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Canadian Paediatric Society - bioethics committee, released a statement on April 1 concerning the withholding and withdrawing of artificial nutrition and hydration.

The statement is similar to the statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Both statements approve the withholding or withdrawing of nutrition and hydration (fluids and food) from infants who may not be dying.

The Canadian statement allows euthanasia by dehydration (slow euthanasia) of infants with cognitive or other disabilities based on a “quality of life” assessment and with consent.

I refer to this as euthanasia by dehydration because there is a clear difference between withholding or withdrawing fluids and food from a person who is actually dying and nearing death and a person who is not otherwise dying. Click "Here" for the complete story.

We really need to get down on our knees and humble ourselves before the Lord. God have mercy on these doctors and any other person who would agree with such a barbaric attitude towards human life. This sounds like eugenics to me. Let us allow the "fit" and "normal" to live, but not those who have disabilities. God loves all His little children.

"Euthanasia" is Greek, and means "good death." It is a euphemism (nice way of saying) for murder in this context.

BTW "eugenics" means "good genes" and you are quite right that it is barbaric, I would also say evil and ungodly, when applied to human beings.

Man still wants to be God. They approve a man deciding which life is acceptible. It is not really any different than deciding an ethnic group doesn't deserve to live, just using a different test.

How long will God overlook such wickedness?

This is horrid!!! It is murder, plain and simple. And its made worse when we starve those who cannot help or defend themselves!

This is what the culture of death has led to. Now you don't even have to be inside the womb to be considered not worthy of living. In or out of the womb, you just have to be considered a "burden" and someone else who isn't God can make the decision to end your life.
So very sad.

In ancient Rome the father of the new born would decide if the infant should live or die. . .We haven't come very far in 2000 years.

This is chilling, sickening and everything evil.

Mother Teresa said it best: "We must not be surprised when we hear of murder, of killings, of wars, of hatred. If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other."

a terrible, but not unexpected, development. there were two things that God set aside as the most detestable of all practises in Leviticus 18: sexual perversion and the sacrifice of children.

i think our current western culture has managed to bring both of those detestable practices to the same level in our day as the canaanites had in their day.

God said of them, "do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations I am going to drive out before you became defiled. even the land was defiled, so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants."

Euthanasia is an antiseptic term for murder. And this is even worse, with holding food and water is torture. At least we give our animals shots to put them down. We had better hit our knees in repentance we are long overdue!!

This makes me sick. I cannot believe life has come to be valued as so little. We do need to be praying more and more!

Disgusting! Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath? Consent? How can an infant give consent? The medical profession has taken a huge step backwards to barbarianism.

When I was born in 1953, my mother was told that, since I'd be a vegetable my whole life, she should put me in an institution and forget she ever had me. So this article really strikes a chord with me!

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27

God have mercy.

Thanks for the heads-up. We've seen this before, but not with infants. Heinous. Blogging this....

That's so atrocious it's hard to believe. Your right we need to humble ourselves more and pray for those wicked souls that would do these things. People complain but forget to pray. Blessings!

This is almost unbelievable to me -God indeed have mercy upon us - have doctors and nurses have no fear of the living God? I put myself in this situation and I probably would lose my job, but I would refuse to do it. I wonder if any have?????

So sad. How much lower can society sink?

Thank you for inviting me to your blog. I can't even fathom such cruelty! Just because certain babies won't be "normal" gives us no right to kill them. It is truly sad. You're right, we must pray! Grace and peace.

What an awful thing!!!

I am sorry for my ignorance, but to be clear, are they saying that it is okay to make a child suffer and need until that child's body can no longer take it and perishes?

Maybe I am just so shocked that I cannot comprehend it.

Solid Rock or Sinking Sand said...

Dawnmarie – The answer to your question is “No”. The article continues, “When a person is actually dying and nearing death, the death occurs from the medical condition. But when fluids and food are intentionally withheld or withdrawn from someone who has cognitive or other serious disabilities or conditions but is not otherwise dying, the cause of death is intentional dehydration.” AND, “Many leading bioethicists would like you to believe that there is no difference between killing and letting die, but in fact there is a big difference. When we allow the killing of a person, we are allowing an intentional action or omission to directly cause death. Letting someone die means that we are actually allowing natural death to occur."

The babies in this case are not dying....they are infants with cognitive or other disabilities that make them “not normal”. God bless.

Lloyd,
Thanks for commenting on my blog, I appreciate it.
This truly is a sad article you have posted, and all that I can think after reading it was the sinfulness of man. God's so gracious to actually keeping mankind alive. We murder our own babies and get away with it every day, it truly is sad. God has been so gracious to this world.

That's basically bullying. Picking on the weak or disabled so that the "strong" can live and save resources.

I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed this, but alot of our geniuses have disabilities.

If we kill of those with disabilities, because they will have a poor "quality of life", we are actually taking away from our potential for growth in science, mathmatics and other fields.

Besides, the poorest quality of life in my opinion is the lack thereof.
