It has very little if anything to do with love, compassion, equality, true justice, mercy and tolerance and acceptance of others and far more to do with worldly power masquerading as religion.T-Childshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14973808285834438472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-601271736781558965.post-67771955288622296632013-09-21T08:14:15.213-07:002013-09-21T08:14:15.213-07:00Well said, we rarely hear of care and justice for ...Well said, we rarely hear of care and justice for the widow, fatherless, the foreigner, the prisoner etc. which feature far, far more often in the Bible than the topics many of our more vocal conservative friends jaw on about (e.g. Exodus 22:22, 22:24, Deut 10:18, 14:29, 16:11, 16:14, 24:17, 24:19 etc. Ps 68.5, Ps 146:9, Isaiah 1:17, 1:23, 10:2, Jeremiah 22:3, Ezekiel 22:7, Zechariah 7:10, Malachi 3:5 etc.). Jesus gave very few direct commandments, yet the ones he gave are challenging: to wash one another’s feet, to labour and not seek either reward or recognition, to turn the other cheek, to love one’s enemies, to delight in persecution, to not judge others or look down on others and always to seek to be the least and the last, to be the servant of all – instead of trying to be society’s master! Would that those over at Lifesitenews or the many conservative Christian blogs and sites that focus on Lev 18:22 or abortion, or to a lesser degree evolution as ‘hot topics’ for Christians. All three topics have one thing in common, they are rarely PERSONALLY COSTLY – and perhaps that explains why they have become so important to many – a quick, off the peg, prepacked, ready-to-wear, righteousness that costs little but at least gives a semblance of conservatism and orthodoxy.

A Christianity built on condemning (and often promoting superiority to) others is null and void – its adherents have their own reward: a sense of self-righteousness (cf. Luke 18:9-14) and self-importance. But are these folk bringing the Kingdom into time and space? Or just promoting a religion that makes people feel better about themselves? You will know them by their fruit... (Matthew 7:16). A bit more foot washing, turning the other cheek etc. and less finger pointing and revelling in the easy righteousness of condemnation of others at the expense of ourselves is that is needed...
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-601271736781558965.post-54601163770154655922013-09-20T17:27:28.988-07:002013-09-20T17:27:28.988-07:00Thanks for reminding us that our faith is not just...Thanks for reminding us that our faith is not just about our salvation but demonstrating it so that others may know the hope that we hold on to—that is, Christ saves, in every aspect!Yay Padua-Olmedohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05614404721954459529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-601271736781558965.post-89913898320241446622013-09-20T10:05:00.865-07:002013-09-20T10:05:00.865-07:00"Religion should unite all hearts and cause w..."Religion should unite all hearts and cause wars and disputes to vanish from the face of the earth, give birth to spirituality, and bring life and light to each heart. If religion becomes a cause of dislike, hatred and division, it were better to be without it, and to withdraw from such a religion would be a truly religious act. For it is clear that the purpose of a remedy is to cure; but if the remedy should only aggravate the complaint it had better be left alone. Any religion which is not a cause of love and unity is no religion. All the holy prophets were as doctors to the soul; they gave prescriptions for the healing of mankind; thus any remedy that causes disease does not come from the great and supreme Physician."

--Bahá'í Holy WritingsBilly Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13418687613478926097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-601271736781558965.post-13916169570633129562013-09-17T05:53:29.008-07:002013-09-17T05:53:29.008-07:00I had to re-post this comment because of technical...I had to re-post this comment because of technical problems:

We need make the difference among the people. on What Is Genuine Religion?

ErlonAndrade
Solid Rock or Sinking Sandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04815501572621378327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-601271736781558965.post-43771340532411876212013-09-16T10:08:15.284-07:002013-09-16T10:08:15.284-07:00Amen, Lloyd.
